Who we are and what we do
We are students from various Leipzig universities and deal with trade union and socio-political issues such as discrimination, racism, anti-Semitism, renting & living, studies & part-time jobs, study financing, study conditions and of course strikes & labor disputes.
We do this as trade union members (or initially only interested parties) under the umbrella of the German Trade Union Confederation (DGB). For example, we organize events and film evenings for information and discussion. Our current focus is on the „TV Stud“ campaign, which aims for a collective agreement for student employees (tvstud.de), and in supporting labor disputes and strikes in various industries, such as nursing, cleaning services, delivery services, meat processing and Amazon.
Better living and study conditions are not given for free - we can only fight for them together.
As students, we want to show solidarity with wage workers, not least because we will also be dependent on wages after our studies.
Why are we doing this in a union? We are in favor of organizing in democratic unions because something must be opposed to the power of employers, because it is important to take a stand against neoliberal developments, precisely because wage labor is such a life-dominating issue and because we are right-wing/yellow unions have to counter something.
Follow us on Facebook and Instagram to stay up to date and be informed about our events.
Our open meetings take place every 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month, to which interested parties are cordially invited.
